ps4 No Man's Sky

Recommended Posts

Got the game, I don't think it likes me.

First planet I spawn on I'm underwater on an ice planet and freeze to death. Decide to install the update.

finally make it to a space station, die and the update is ready.

install update and now my grave is on the other side of a door that needs an atlas thingo.

Quite addictive though, enjoying it so far.

I finally found a planet that's not trying to kill me either by acid rain, boiling temps, toxic air, hungry animals or psychotic sentinels which go mental at me even if I look at a plutonium rock.

Going to make the most of it and earn some cash here for a bigger ship.

I know right, sentinels are a touchy bunch, although I just got chased across a planet by killer crabs. That was an interesting site for the rest of the Gek I'm sure

I found a planet which was littered with grav balls, couldn't walk more than 100m without finding another one but the sentinels there were insane. They would attack on sight whether I was collecting anything or not.

Encountered a game breaking bug where the game crashes every time I warp. Gonna have to restart ?

I get the same problem on PS4 and have done since the first time I warped. I was saving at a space station before each warp (which is a pain when you have fuel for 5 consecutive warps and plenty of warp drives to keep going).

I enjoyed this for the first few hours while I was discovering things. I got bored of it after a while since everything's the same. I kept playing just to see how far I could get before giving up. Expanded my inventory to 30 and ship to 35 slots, but even that fills up with junk pretty quickly. I made it a fair way, but gave up without reaching the center of the galaxy.

Can't argue with the trailer however the mods starting to coming out now are certainly showing what the game is capable of. The PC version should be ok but the PS4 version is going to be the same for quite a while yet.

Anyone played this since the "foundation" update? I hear it's much better now. It's also $20 cheaper, so I was considering scooping it up.

I have it, I enjoy the game but no, have not played it in like a few months. I played for a lot of hours when it was released, went through a couple of galaxy centers and haven't played since. Got bored with it... And the foundation update it didn't make me curious one bit. I'm not into minecraft and also, what's the point in having a base if there isn't anyone around to play with? :/

I've been playing it, but pretty bored with it lately. Made a base with a nice size pearl farm. It makes a lot of units, but nothing to buy except ships and freighters.

Good to know I can at least build a base that can produce something to sell, I was unaware of that, I could actually buy a better ship, I have almost all slots on it but now they are asking me for 100+ millions for them :/

My base has two farms. 100-plant pearl farm that can generate about 2.8m every 22 minutes, and then an 85-plant lube farm that can make 2m every 6 minutes. But that also makes the game boring. No more need for mining, so no more need for all the exploring. I'm hoping for another update soon.

I've been playing this quite a but since the latest update and it has made the game a lot more fun and "game like", in that it has a story to follow.  I started a new game and got through all the tutorial stuff much quicker than when the game was new.  Flying is much more fun now too, especially on planets, they have given full control to you now so you can dive down into canyons and such.  Space combat also seems much more hard, but I'm still in my starting ship so I'm probably pretty weak.  @Squirrel and @grjkie I believe you were asking about this the other day, I think it's worth playing this again, there's loads of stuff I've not mentioned because I haven't done any of it yet, farming, base building, buying a freighter, land deformation.  I believe I'm going to put a lot more time into this now than at launch.

Now here are some pretty pictures I've taken on my adventures.

I'm definitely going back to this game once I'm done with Zelda.

Flying on a planet was a PITA si it's pretty cool if they patched it.

What do you mean there's a story to follow now? The goal always was to reach the center of the universe right?

Yeah, apparently it's about 30 hours of story about another guy who's the same race as you, I haven't done much of it though.

I'm wondering if I should start over. I wasn't very far in the story. Only done 3 or 4 light jumps

I was about the same as Fido. Lots of random exploring but not really got anywhere. Briefly looked at the foundation update but may have a look again.

Does anyone know if the PC and PS4 users are in the same universe?

just reached the 'center' of the galaxy this afternoon, only to be spitted out into a 'new' galaxy.. miraculously filled with the notorious suicidal 'god'atlas being worshipped by the familiar warrior'slugs', merchant'birds' and scientist'robots'. was quite the anticlimax tbh.

tips: collect all your stuff from your base and take it with u in your ship before entering the new 'universe', i lost all mine at my old base (couldnt go back anymore)

also bring plenty of all the stuff needed to install ur tech, because most will be broken when arriving in new universe

My guess is you dont play this anymore. I just found out about it. What I find interesting is being able to visit all those planets. I don't want to do anything but explore. When you have a moment can you share with me if you think just getting it to check out the worlds is worth it. Thanks bro.

I would say so.  I just reinstalled it the other day and it’s still thrilling warping into a new system and seeing the planets around you, no one else has ever been there.  There is a new big update coming soon apparently so I think it is worth it, even if all you want to do is explore.

Also playing it in cinematic mode with the PSVR is pretty incredible, it’s a gorgeous game.

There is a rumor that this summers " big" update for this game is going to finally include a real MP mode . Someone did some data mining and found some code that they claim basically confirms it. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DdRy3ChV0AE7lyq.jpg we will see but it would add a nice element to the game i feel.

Yeah me too . I have read some people enjoy playing it on their VR with it set on cinematic view . Ive not tried it but do want to . Prob as close as one can get until they add it. I do think they might add that in the future though.

I was going to get this when my dog began feeling sick. Thankfully he is feeling better and this would be a perfect time to play this as I need something to just walk around and explore the cosmos.

Playing No Man’s Sky after the latest big update is like landing on completely foreign terrain.

I didn’t know what to expect in Next, today’s much-anticipated No Man’s Sky update. Past updates have added or overhauled features, but the game still felt familiar. Not so with this one.

Next brings true multiplayer to No Man’s Sky, but it also brings a huge graphical overhaul, unlimited base building, character customization and a third person mode, as well as several small but welcome quality of life improvements. It feels like everything has changed for the better. Crafting is simplified, inventory management is much easier, exploring the galaxy is full of new delights. I liked the game at launch, but I considered it an acquired taste. Now I can’t imagine anyone not loving it.

Even if you’ve been playing this entire time, every new moment in this update feels like a new discovery. Adjusting to the new recipes for things like warp cells and fuel can take a moment, but I got the hang of it quickly. I sold off my outdated technology to buy a new ship, which I didn’t need, but I wanted something new to see the overhauled planets for the first time. It was worth it. I didn’t realize how much of a difference clouds would make, but entering into a new planet by coming through a cloud barrier enhances the anticipation before you land.

And once you get there, there’s just more stuff to do. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but every time I’ve landed so far, even on nuclear planets, there were plenty of weird rocks, aliens and plants to scan. As always, these planets are beautiful, but the graphical overhaul has made the terrain feel less craggy and random. I’m still sad that I had to leave the one tropical planet I found with Earth-like grass and trees, but the boiling rain really made it hard to stay.

Some of the new recipes for crafting now include an additional step in which you have to refine some minerals in order to use them. Rather than being tedious, this opened me up for more exploration. I wasn’t just looking for the one mineral I needed and then hopping in my ship—I also had to find what I needed to craft a refiner, then go find some fuel for it, then find the mineral I needed, and then refine it. It’s so easy to get lost in this scavenging now, which is impressive because I found it pretty easy to get lost in No Man’s Sky to begin with.

What especially made all the new features shine was when Kotaku video producer Paul Tamayo dropped into my planet for a visit. It was incredibly easy—he just friended me on PlayStation and selected to join my game from the start menu. I heard him in my headset immediately, turned around, and he was there. It was so simple and so magical to hear him react to the toxic planet I had found myself on. As a boiling monsoon raged at us, we strategized about where to head next, where to find the minerals we needed, and just marveled at the beauty of space.

While exploring with Paul, we got into a dogfight with some NPCs. He had a more maneuverable ship and was able to pick them off handily. Once we got the signal that all the pirates were gone, I noticed I was still being shot at. I dodged and weaved to get out of the line of fire. The attacker definitely wasn’t one of the pirates from before, and Paul and I wondered if maybe it was another player. By the time we shot them down, we still hadn’t been able to figure it out. We still don’t know. It feels incredible to have that little unsolved mystery.

I have already played dozens of hours of No Man’s Sky. I actually hadn’t picked it up in a while, in favor of other newer games. After spending a few hours in it today, I can already see this game devouring my life again. Apologies to anyone that I’ve made plans with. You can meet me in the stars.

Certainly interesting but not interesting enough to make me buy the game again to play along with PS4 players.

If there’s crossplay between PC and PS4 that would be great but not likely.

I wouldn't either, especially if I had to start progress from the beginning on the console. That is like telling me to start over on GTAV PC. I guess i'm just looking for a cool stoner game where I can explore and zone out when I dont feel like "gaming", if that makes sense.

Welcome to the first in a series of vehicle based photo contests. This is the brainchild of @Con but I will be be doing the leg work for his ideas. This one's theme is "Nightlife" but don't think that just means clubs and that kind of stuff. It can be anything that involves your car, bike or vehicle and night. Just make sure it looks good and looks like it belongs. A BF Injection is not something you'd take to a 5 star restaurant for example. Photos can be taken with in-game camera or using the editor. Submit them by posting them in this thread and you can post two entries and you can change them anytime before the contest ends (just edit your post and replace the photos).
Contest ends at end of August. Feel free to ask questions about the theme.

      Added alot of crap.
I did not enjoy the Marksman rifle at all when we played in Two Bros last night. I like the map so i dont want to delete it.  I have changed it to Assault SMG only.
