Great idea,  id join!

Another simple idea,  most kills in any 10 min tdm. Or highest k/d.

One thing just occured to me, the payout you get from robbing a store varies randomly doesn't or is dependent on something? Could luck be too much of a factor?

What if you add a time limit, you need to land the chopper and pull up your bank within 10 minutes and you can rob as many stores as you possible can. And its all about the money.

@pete_95973 any thoughts? This is your idea so I'm happy to implement it the way you want it.

I kind of like the time limit idea. Maybe even a bonus/penalty based on time? 10 mins isn't enough though cause I agree that the timer should start from the time the wanted level starts at the military base.

How about 25 mins?  You have to steal the jet and fly to LSIA like you said and steal a helicopter. Then you have to rob any three stores.  What if the winner is the one who steals the most money (which is partially luck) but you get bonus money. For example $50 bonus for every minute under the 25 or 30 minute time limit. There should also be a significant penalty for every death. Or should the in game penalty take care of that? Don't we drop money with each death?

Not sure about the money dropping on death, think that might depend on how much you're carrying as well.

Dying to lose wanted level will save a lot of time, so there needs to be a penalty worth trying to stay alive to avoid.

I'm definitely in for this though.

Agreed. Maybe the death penalty should be $500? More? A test run of this would be nice to see about how difficult it is, how long it takes, how much can be made etc. I am still on vacation but will be back in LS Sunday night.

I just gave this a test run without doing anything I've come up with in the past few days planning (rather wait until the challenge starts to even try my ideas). I'm uploading the video now but it'll take a while so I'll post it as soon as it's done, but here's a bit of a run through what I done and the results.

  • Only 1 attempt, without restarting from any mistakes, or deaths in Fort Zancudo.
  • Not making any attempts to avoid cops to lose wanted level before moving on, instead fighting my way through each step.

  • Jumped the fence using a stock Penumbra stolen off the street. No deaths in Fort Zancudo and no NPC jet attack upon exit.
  • Lost wanted stars about 20 seconds before reaching LSIA.
  • Chopper wasn't there as I approached, so I looped back around to try getting it to spawn. Seen it spawn as I passed so made a tight loop back and got 1 star wanted level from bailing out of the jet.
  • Went straight to the nearest store and robbed it while still having 1 star for $1871. Left with 3 stars.
  • Straight to next store with 3 stars for $1616.
  • Next store with 4 stars for $1575, and died as soon as I sat back in the chopper and lost $400.
  • Made it to the top of Maze Bank to view bank deposit screen with a total of $4662, in 8 minutes and 40 seconds, with 1 death.

I went back to LSIA to do a bit of testing with the chopper. I approached it quite fast in the test run which is why it spawned as I was passing, however it seems that it doesn't always spawn but you only need to move about 100m away and it will. The chopper is also random. It could be a Buzzard, Annihilator, Maverick, Cargobob or anything else good or bad. So you could get lucky and have something like a fast and agile little Buzzard or you could get stuck with a heavy Cargobob. I think is kind of fun not knowing what you'll get.

It obviously adds time to have the chopper not spawn first time or to be in a slower chopper, but there are a lot of ways to gain or lose time in every step of this challenge, even a simple jet flight from A to B, so I don't see it having a major impact. Judge for yourselves once the video's uploaded though.

I've done a bit of testing as well. Based on mine and @Skorpion's figures you get from around $1400 to $1900 for robbing a store. I don't think that variation is too much. So I think @pete_95973's original plan for this, i.e. rob 3 stores with time taken deducted from your total cash for the score, will work fine.

Getting killed by the police costs $300 or $400 - it may depend on how many stars you have, not sure about that, but it doesn't really matter. Getting killed by the police loses a significant chunk of money so reduces your final score.

Getting killed by other methods does not cost you anything, so we do need to deduct something from the score if that happens. I suggest any death that does not already lose you $300 or more, you take a $300 penalty.

Another couple of potential issues, just so we have rules in place to cover this if they happen,

  • getting killed by the store owner, and maybe dieing by any method in the store, you lose the cash you stole
    • I don't think we need to say anything other than you can rob another store if you want or just count that as $0 for that store - either way it's not going to be a winning score, but you can count that if it is your best score
  • other payments made during the challenge, CEO staff wages, mechanic etc
    • these should be shown clearly in the video so we can add the money they deduct back on to your score at the end
  • helicopter getting destroyed, could happen so I suggest 2 options
    • get another one from any spawn location, including calling a Pegasus vehicle but you take a penalty to your score but not via your CEO menu
    • finish in a land vehicle but at another location further away so again it's not going to be a winning score
    • either way again it's not going to be a winning score but can be counted if you have nothin better

Any other potential issues we need to take into account?

My chopper was starting to struggle on the climb to Maze Bank so wouldn't of had much left. Not sure there'd need to be a penalty for calling a Pegasus chopper though since you'll have to travel to collect it which will add a decent amount of time already. CEO chopper should be off limits though.

I'm not going to post the video of my test run since the run through was enough to help, don't want to reveal too much :P

Is holding up the store required or can we just shoot the worker and empty the till?

That gives a lower payout if I'm not mistaken?

Couple hundred less I believe, but those precious seconds might save you from death via police.

That's up to @pete_95973, but I would probaly say actually hold up the store and wait for the worker to fill the bag with cash, as that takes longer and adds a greater chance of the police showing up before you leave the shop.

Also I think in the case of the helicopter being destroyed I would go for setting the rule as the get another one option, not use a land vehicle for an alternative finish point.

Other ideas that have been mentioned previously but time to think about actually doing them now that we can make use of recording game play on PS4.

All of these would require you to submitt a video of your best attempt.

  • gang attacks
    • do any 3 gang attacks in a row as fast as possible (or do as many as you can in a specified time limit?)
    • we can ban heavy weapons
    • have to be done solo
    • bonuses for head shots?
  • deathmatch with specific weapon / class of weapon
    • do a 10 minute deathmatch but you can only use a specified weapon
    • any R* (T)DM
    • easiest with owned weapons but you could do forced & pickups and find the appropriate weapon on the map
    • most kills wins
  • "I fought the law"
    • most Noose kills or police helicopters/cars destroyed in 10 minutes
      • whatever can be clearly shown from the in-game stats at the start and end of the video
    • solo only
    • we can ban heavy weapons, calling NPC assistance etc

Also a slightly different racing challenge, multi-car and class time trial

  • using Broughy's data on his version of Cutting Coroners (http://gtaweather.herokuapp.com/staggeredstart)
  • pick any vehicle in any(?) class you want and get your fastest lap
  • but everyone has to have a different vehicle
    • on the challenge thread you have to claim the vehicle you want, then no one else can pick that
  • we reduce your lap time by an amount from the above website to even things up
  • who ever is in the fastest car has no deduction
  • everyone else's time is reduced by how much slower their car is
  • e.g. if it were just two people, one in a Nero and one in Casco, then the player in the Casco will have 9.776s deducted from their lap time

Should this to be open to absolutely any vehicle? The slower the vehicle the easier it is to get the perfect lines. Would a decent driver picking the air tug win this too easily? So maybe we limit this and not allow any too slow.

Looked into a couple of the above a bit more.

"I fought the Law" would start and finish with the video showing your Crimes stats page. That shows how many Cops and NOOSE you have killed and how many police cars stolen. It updates straight away. So we could use one or all of those.

"Multi-class time trial". As much as I'd like to all any vehicle, would mean everyone wanting to pick the very slowest I think. So it would be limited to those in a specified speed range, e.g. any car with a lap time of 1:12.706 (Futo) or lower, RE7B is fastest at 1:00.627.  That would include all supers, almost all sports. most sports classics, muscle and coupes. We could ban specific cars as well, like the Rocket Voltic, Ruiner 2000 and Blazer Aqua maybe?

Does that seem a reasonable range of vehilcles or should it be narrower?

Here's a list of cars sorted by Broughy's times on Cutting Coroners

I'm planning on doing the multi-car multi-class time trial for the next challenge, starting on this Friday (7th July)

It would be on Broughy's Cutting Coroners

Car selection limited to list below.

As previous but removed the ones with the downforce problem, removed special vehicles, merged those with slightly different names but esentially the same (Massacro / Massacro race car, Zion / Zion Cabrio, Schafter V12 / Armoured Schafter V12 etc).  This leaves 100 cars from Tempesta to Futo.

Each person picks 2 cars (I think the track is well known enough for us to do more than one). Everyone has to pick completely different cars. Once someone posts on the challenge thread to say which cars they are picking, no one else can pick either of those. Once you post saying which cars's you've picked you have to stick to those.

Your cars must be seperated in the ranked list by at least 30 places.

e.g. if you pick the Tempesta your other pick must from rank 31 (Schafter V12) or lower

Your fastest laps will have the bonus time given deducted from them, e.g. Tempesta 0.000, Felon 7.260, Futo 11.903.

List of cars that can be used, fully customised, with time bonuses.

I'd very much appreciated if a couple of people could check this and make sure it looks OK, Any obvious ones I have not missed out that should be, or any others to pair up as same basic car? @Crawford1872 @zmurko + anyone else in the know. :)

You've missed the regular Itali GTB and some of the cars shouldnt really be merged, as they're too different and get different lap times, Jester & Jester RC, non-armoured and armoured versions of Schafters, Massacro & Massacro RC. Only ones that can be treated as one are 9Fs, Zions and Rapid GTs.

Though you could add a rule, that only one of those pairs can be picked and when it is, noone else can pick either of them. Let's say Ally picks Massacro, then nobody can pick either a Massacro or Massacro RC, but you should still give Ally the correct bonus time, depending on which version he chooses.

My top 100 list actually ends with the Oracle, but if you merge 9Fs, Zions and Rapid GTs, it then ends with the Bucaneer Custom. ;)

Thanks Z,

That's what I'm going to do. If there's more than one version of the car and they have very similar times then they count as the same for this challenge, but as you say the bonus needs to correspond to the actual variant of the car used.

On the list I have now the Futo is 101st. That's going to be the cut off as I'm sure there's more than one person would like to drive it.

Same car pairings with bonuses

Jester / Jester (Racecar)    02.960    02.560
Massacro / Massacro (Racecar)    03.061    03.007
9F / 9F Cabrio    03.322    03.322
Schafter V12 / Armoured Schafter V12    04.318    04.463
Zion / Zion Cabrio    06.600    06.600
Schafter LWB / Schafter LWB (Armored)    08.966    09.068
Buccaneer / Buccaneer Custom    11.436    11.418

Rapid GT - either type of roof (no difference in name anyway) 7.616

The times aren't lap times. They are how much slower that car is than the current fastest (Tempesta) on a specific track (Cutting Coroners) as tested by the same person (Broughy).

e.g. if two equally matched players did their best possible laps, one in a Tempesta and one in a Futo, then the one in the Futo should be 11.903s slower. So for this challenge, to balance things up such that a Futo can compete against a Tempesta and all things in-between, your best lap time will have the relevant bonus time deducted from it.
