Crew Challenge 154 - SFred

This is a solo challenge, point to point time trial where you need to work out your own route. We've done similar things to this before and it's a bit like a GFred race. But rather than find a car on the roads, you have them provided for you via transform check points. It uses the Sultan and Sultan RS, plus short sections on foot.

The whole race should take around 10 minutes. There's only 8 check points with big distances between most of them. There should be at least 2 different routes that are about the same length between most CPs, it's up to your whether you stick to the roads (traffic is on) or go off-road.

Thanks to Spinnaker and Spud for advice on the planning of this.

This is the track

https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/ps4/jobs/job/07nEIKcG0kG5r3I-OzIVyg

It was made just for this really, but it is 16 player so feel free to try it with other people, but keep it non-contact if you do

The time of day is up to you. The other settings should be fixed, but in case they are not, please do this as

  • heavy traffic
  • bright weather
  • customs off
    • you should only be able to select a Rat bike, but it never gets used.

I have added an extra bridge at the end of Raton Canyon and another stunt ramp to give more than one viable route between CPs 5 & 6. But it is entirely up to you if you use those or not. Shown here and here.

CP 6 is shown as a parchute, that's just what a Transform to on-foot CP looks like. If you want to and are able to, by all means use the parachute, but it's not intended to be a parachute jump, not really high enough.

Starts now

Ends 19:00 BST (18:00 UTC) 17th May

All times to be posted by 19:00 BST in 19th May

I thought all the text, apart from the title was just typed in as normal, nothing changed. So I don't know why it was showing up as black rather than automatic. But changed it now.

@djw180, why the second to last checkpoint? if the checkpoint is in the water, you should allow for a parachute jump somewhere else, by taking that checkpoint from the race...

Its not a gta race, a cp is needed to get a parachute i beleive. Or in this case to get on foot.

I'm really liking these "cannonball run" type races.  I'm in! :)

As Lann says, you need that to transform from the car to on foot as it's not GTA. I don't know why R* make that CP a parachute, it's their "on-foot" option in the creator.

Gave it a few runs, a few tricky spots going through the off road paths, got down below 8 min in a beat up car :)

Yes

But if you jump into the last cp top right you might be able to parachute into finish? I am at 7:26 right now

I'm not going to make any serious attempts yet as I of course have a better knowledge of race, so I'll give you all a couple more days to "catch up". But when I was testing I felt well under 9 mins was possible using the obvious routes. And it looks like Lann has found some quicker routes :).

I would like to see what routes people are using, but you can of course wait until this is over to reveal your fastest ones.

8:06 now.

Is it really possible to parachute at the end ? Seems too low to me (haven't tried).

I didn't plan on it being possible, but it might be. You can certainly begin to open the chute, but I'm not sure it will open in time to stay airborne.

Here's my route so far.

I could perhaps do a 7:45 but not less.

1st to second checkpoint and 3rd to 4th I do a beeline t offroad between those places.

I am at 8:01, for now. But that is still with several chokes allong the way. And I need to practice the swimming more, lost probably 15/20 seconds right there, because I couldn´t submerge when I wanted it or emerge when I wanted it to. Also mad several spins allong the way (4 or 5, at least). maybe be a little more cautious and learning the car and surface limits will make for a better time.

Two words: Ford Zancudo

I’m in the 7:35 range now, I guess a lo 7:00 should be possible.

I was on a 7 min run and fell in the water instead of landing on the pier. A 5.05 in the middle of fort z. Had to turn it all off :FIRE:
