There's one thing that doesn't appeal to me here and it's a major part... the elegy retro. One of the easiest cars in the game to drive and can go flat out round most corners. Got a feeling it won't really be a challenge.

Elegy Retro was first choice as it's similar spec to the Comet Retro in terms of customisation plus the Nissan Skyline was the dominating factor in the real Super GT

This can be changed for another car that fits in with the Super GT style or may even go for three different cars, one for each tier. Slowest car for top tier, this could help  balance the field

i would agree with @Potato the elegy retro is a bit easy to get around a track.(PotatoFTW, lol) but it is a car most ppl already have and i a way would make all participants much closer to each other and therefore allow for a really close qualifying and race.. personally i would prefer using the infamous Karin Futo, simply because its a car where focus and concentration are demanded throughout the whole race from a drivers perspective and would make the best and most consistent driver win. also @Squirrel's idea of using different cars (gt1,gt2,gt3) would perhaps be better, only we should use staggered starts then and make clear rulings on lapping etc. im looking forward to this event no matter what car we use :)

And on a more constructive note, I prefer the idea of the futo like mahaloka said

also if it was just stunt tracks I'm probably not arsed enough to sign up and race, they just don't do it for me, but I would be interested in spectating/commentating, be cool to do and give us a proper video for each race.

For the tracks there's a few I definitely want to see.

Suzuka, Fuji and Tsukuba are definitely a priority. Not sure if Fuji exists on GTA but should be easy enough to recreate. Tsukuba may be a little small too but can test

Sepang and one or two Australian tracks. At least one of these could be a street circuit. I know Zmurko wanted a few making for his event which is on hold. Think Goldcoast would be too dangerous to have a contact race with 20 cars.

I was possibly thinking about Shanghai as well.

Could also use some of the Gran Turismo recreations. I believe there's a Tokyo Route  246 on GTAF. Not had a good look at it to see if it's a street race or purely a track race.

The event is a few months away yet so no immediate rush for a definitive track list and there's time to make any that don't exist.

Yeah I like the idea of doing some we haven't done before, basically as long as it's like rotated between track styles somewhat it won't become the same old y'know, Gold Coast probably wouldn't work I agree, during myths event in the sedans we had good racing there but overtaking was difficult, and that was with like 10 people, and ten people who were being careful at that.

I've updated the OP with the three tier car suggestion and listed the Japanese cars in Sports class. I think the Futo even driven by expert drivers would struggle a lot against slower drivers in Elegy Retros but you never know. Will need a good choice for a middle tier car. Will have to do some testing at some point.

I'll work out a fair seeding system, probably not based on final finishing positions but more like points per race competed in. Those drivers who have missed a few races won't gain an extra advantage then.

Think having faster drivers in slower cars will definitely shake things up in the races.

If @Lann is running a regulated Sports night soon we can definitely reuse some of the car research done for that.

It would have to be multi class if that was happening, on tracks on the actual roads I'm sure there would be competitive racing it faster drivers were in slower cars but on the stunt prop IRL or whatever tracks those in slower cars would get demolished so it wouldn't really work as one leaderboard or that

Really like the idea of different cars. I would enjoy helping out testing the cars.

If using many different cars maybe stock cars can be used so that people dont have to prepare alot of cars.

If using alot of cars you could let the players pick their prefered car, starting with the slower players.

Could the assigned car change between the races?

Maybe consider some tracks that does not only consist of floating stuntprops?

Definitely wanting to keep it simple.

Just three cars for the whole series. Each team made up of the three cars each with drivers matched to the car based on average performance.

Will accept your offer for testing cars. I'll have to work out a spreadsheet for correlating times from different drivers and then find the best three Japanese cars to suit

Pick a track (XDBX test track?)  and the cars to test (fully modded)  and let everyone post their times?

Not a good track for comparison. Needs to be a course that's half on stunt track and half street. Broughys times are well out for the Comet due to the extra performance it gains when it's on a grippy surface, it can outpace the Elegy Retro on a stunt track.

I've been looking at actual cars used in GT500/GT300 over the years and it's not just Japanese manufacturers, this should mean a wider range of cars to choose from. I'm still wanting to keep a three tier system but thinking of a choice of two cars per tier so a driver can choose a car more to their style of driving.

  • Tier 1
    • Rapid GT
    • Furore GT
  • Tier 2
    • Sultan (Sports)
    • Banshee (Sports)
  • Tier 3
    • Elegy Retro Custom
    • Jester Racecar

I'll keep refining the list based on testing. I've based this current list on Broughys times, there's about 2 seconds a lap difference between each tier, both cars within the tier are within a few 100ths of a second of each other. Can find a suitable hybrid track for more accurate testing.

here you'll find different versons of Suzuka, Fuji, Sugo, Okayama, Tsukuba, Izawa, Autopolis, Twin ring Motegi, Chang int., Ebisu-east, Matsumoto, Ebisu-north and even some reverse versions. https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/member/Lovepoppin-GTA/games/gtav/ps4/jobs

the creator has 2or3 different versions available of most of the tracks above, hope its of any help :)

Twin Ring, Fuji and Okayama are ones I'll definitely test. Prefer my own Suzuka, his track may be more accurate but I have the Ferris Wheel :D His tracks do seem to be faithful to the real circuits but not very varied in terms of scenic props.

Think we've got enough stunt track based races suggested, more street race ones will need to be found to keep the masses happy.

I would love to get to use my Jester for an event, I actually own one!

I would be happy to join this I think, especially if it's in the same slot as the pfister event. My only question at this point though is how long would it take to run the whole qualifying - organize - 25k - organize - 45k structure? What kind of event time would that likely total?

Shouldn't take more than an hour.

The total race distance is the same as the current Supercup but instead of one race it will be split into two, only extra time needed will be the organisation time for race 3.

It's based on Japanese/Asian tracks, none of the UK courses will be used for this championship. Not got time to race 16 tracks right now either.

From Lovepoppins selection

  • Autopolis - Track ok, very poor checkpoint placement
  • Twin Ring - Although flat the track is good and better placement of checkpoints, may be a little dull
  • Okayama - Better track still very poor checkpoint placement
  • Fuji - Best track of the selection but annoying start line horn.

Once you've done one of his tracks you have done them all, not much variety in style and I'm not a fan of his big blocks for starting grids. Poor checkpoint placement throughout and barriers in strange places likely to cause problems if cars go wide. Only exception to this is Fuji and probably the only track I'd use.

I like the sound of this Squirrel. I think the Ellegy Retro is a good choice of car given its for the least skilled drivers.

ill ask him to remove the horn if u wish.

u should try some of the others also, had good fun playing it earlier today with @XuTek6651 ,noplayer and some rummers.

his Tsukuba is much better than FR-player's version for example, chang int and sportland sugo are also very good. and def give Matsumoto a try ;)

a lot of japanese ppl dont use cp's to navigate, they follow the road, and when placing them they often do them after the apex because most are part of the gta drift-culture.

it can be annoying at times, especially when some randoms join and cut everywhere, but it shouldnt be to big of a problem for ppl like us who stick to the roads.

btw. the elegy retro is a good bit faster than the jester. and also the banshee is a good bit faster than the sultan. might want to adjust that, it wouldnt be much choice in picking cars atm, assuming everyone goes for the fastest.

I've finalised some more details for the event.

It will begin on the 6th of November and run for 7 consecutive weeks with a total of 14 races.

There will be a mix of surfaces, 4 tracks based on racetrack sections and 3 street circuits.

Confirmed tracks:

Race circuit:

Fuji, Sepang & Suzuka

Street circuits:

Singapore

Im looking for one more stunt based track and two more street tracks.

I'm wanting to keep to the Super GT style so only interested in tracks based on circuits from Asia/Australia.

Im also working on two more short championships to run next year in the same time slot. One of these will be based on UK tracks, still undecided about the theme for the last championship.

This is the new home of the Super GT Planning area. Myself, @Crawford1872, @Jc10110 and @Potato are currently discussing how best to run this championship.

There will be a slight delay on when it will commence due to the upcoming creator update where it should be possible to have multi-class racing and new props :D In the meantime enjoy the rest of Supercup and make sure you all sign up for the Race of  Champions

Date of Event: TBC, will be a Wednesday,
Time of Event in UTC: European evening, approx. 20:00 UTC
      Does Event Repeat: no
       If Event Repeats/How Often:
Event Host: probably djw180 and / or Junior Chubb, but could be someone else
Amount of Players Allowed: probably 30
      Special Rules for Event:

Description of Event: Just planning a race night with VANS and possibly others. Exact details to be confirmed.
      @Lann@JuniorChubb@Mythaga + anyone else interested

Both crews have Wednesday night (Europe) events but different start times. We could split the different and start 20:00 / 20:30 UK time maybe? (not sure what time VANS usually start, is it 7 or 8?)
      When?
XDBX Wednesdays are all free at the moment as our WoW event is set up to have one-off PLs / events take that slot.
But I am moving house 2nd week of August and at the moment don't know how long I'll be without internet (hopefully not at all, but out of my control). So if we could do this on or before Aug 1st that would be great.

I would like to get a night set to meetup and multi play with the VR's, we could alternate games we play each weekend

Would like to do on Saturdays after 2bros at a time early enough for EU players to be able to play but late enough the NA is  done with IRL daytime shit (#farmlife). SInce it would be a Saturday night would 23:00UTC work for everyone who would be interested

Games I have we could do are Dirt Rally, Drive Club and Star Trek Bridge Crew (Dirt and Trek can be played with non VR players) and I am willing to pick up other games as needed.

      Let me know

Time of Event in UTC: 22 or later utc

      Amount of Players Allowed: 30ish
Special Rules for Event: Set for each month

Description of Event: I want to run this idea by you guys, still just a thought.
Each month we host a event with 30 player jobs.
The jobs will be announced in the beginning of the month.
The jobs will be balanced between all types allowing 30 players (maybe 27 or 28 to include jobs R* forced to 27 and Motorwars).
We open up for non crew (people/crew we know) to try and get a full playlist.
Maybe limit it to fewer jobs and more laps/time on each.
      I am trying to create:
something to practice for (as the gtaf TT dont seem to come back)
make use of the good active players in other crews we know
      a reoccuring 30 player event

Now might not be the time for such thing, but i will post it as i think it could be something for the future.

Any interest in trying to get alot of members involved in a event where we create a race locked to a specific stock vehicle. Each person picks a (one) car and create a new contact race suited just for, and locked to, that vehicle.
If we get some interest and have alot of races once its time to host the races as an event I suggest each race is no longer than 5 min.
If there is interest we can start picking vehicles, no vehicles can be used by more than one creator.
Great opportunity to try the creator if you havent already. And maybe a good reason for others to get back in there..
We should dedicate at least two weeks for creating and fine tuning the races.
Lets aim at holding 30 players.
