Music was my first love and it 'll be my last...

Recommended Posts

Well, like John Miles said, 'Music was my first love and it will be my last'. Just like that. And the only sports for me is Transports, because of...being a truckdriver you know?

And every now and then I like to do a bit of abseilling (rappel?) from the Euromast (spacetower) in Rotterdam. Only from a height of 100 meters so that's pretty safe.

As a 48 year old drummer I've seen a lot of bands come and go (looking for a new one at this moment) but here are a few examples...

I love a good cover song, one that takes the original in new and unexpected directions, so I thought I'd start a thread to share a few of my own and see what are your favourite cover songs, any genre, any artist.
A galloping Iron Maiden style cover of one of my favourite Radiohead songs.
Radiohead covering Carly Simon's brilliant Bond song from The Spy Who Loved Me.
And perhaps the greatest cover song of all time, Hendrix's version of Bob Dylan's All Along The Watchtower.

Right there's no free beer i admit it, but i could really do with your help in relation to a uni project i've left far too late and am currently blasting through, but i need some data.
Doing a study into Vinyl collections in the 21st century as there has been a bit of a resurgence in it's popularity (also known as the "manbun and beard effect) and i'm looking into the varying ways in which people collect/sell/view vinyl today. So i have a quick question...

How many of you here either buy Vinyl records, sell Vinyl records or even just have a collection in the garage you forgot about till right now? and if you were to sell, do you know how you would go about this? (ebay, job lot, phone a collector, take it into a record store, put it in the bin etc etc)

Anyone with literally anything to say on this please reply below and that would be massively helpful as the deadline is in 24 hours  (i'm an idiot i know) and if it's alright i may anonymously quote any responses in my report, just say if you'd rather i didn't

      Many thanks troops

Seeing as music is my thing and i make a brand new playlist for the journey to uni 3 times a week, instead of me and my mate enjoying them then me overwriting it, thought i'd keep them and share them with you to make your commutes slightly more interesting, expect the odd artist from GTA occasionally #1 here.

Something DC said last night about his top ten in another music thread got me thinking about what mine would be and i thought it could be a cool thing to share and see what everyone's top 10 albums are (or just your favourite if you can't think of 10)
In no particular order (Probably Forgotten many albums but nvm)
The Black Crowes - Before the frost...until the freeze
      Jeff Buckley - Grace
Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town
Counting Crows - Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings
      Radiohead - In Rainbows
      Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam
      Rush - Moving Pictures
Stevie Ray Vaughan - In Step
      Thin Lizzy - Black Rose
      Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

Here's a link to a playlist of a great track from each album
