Most important discussion ever.

 

It's just easier and more natural to say & write "ex". Saying "press cross" is just so.... clunky. "Circle", "triangle" and "square" feel natural, but "cross" sounds so weird... Same as "oh" would be really weird to use instead of "circle". Languages and speech work in mysterious ways I guess. Simple as that. :P

(the 2 comments shown in the article were priceless, especially: "Anyone that calls it a "cross button" is clearly an undercover cop.")

X is the "yes" button. O is the "no" button.

The box is the "use" button. (sometimes games confuse the "no" and "use" buttons)

and the top one is the Illuminati symbol. Used to remind us gamers that we have no free will. 

 

What are these shapes and letters you speak of? Seek true enlightenment you peasants. Kifflom!

Japanese games seems to switch the O and X buttons. Outside of the games I don't know if it's region, language or country-specific.
