Surgery

I just had gallbladder surgery on Tuesday, they said it was going to be an easy recovery but man oh man I’m having a bitch of a time getting around. I know it’s only been 2 days but I’ve never felt this invalid in my life.

What surgeries have you had and how was your recovery?

Ouch. Doesn’t sound fun at all.

I once had a Kidney Stone removed via a catheter tube up the wee wee. The tube had to stay in place for several days so things could flow easily. It made house shopping the next day very interesting. Other than that it was an easy recovery. Having that tube yanked out wasn’t fun though.

Few years later I had a tumor removed from one of my jewels. That one sucked and so did the recovery. Walking was difficult and I was in pain for about a week.

That invalid/helpless feeling does indeed suck.

I've had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at the same time under anesthesia. He said, "Count backwards from 10." All I remember was counting down to 8 and woke up in my own drool being all disoriented. Recovery wasn't too bad, but sure finished all the Percocet.

Sorry you guys went through that.

I had all my teeth pulled and was very awake for all of it.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it!!

2007, I walked around for three days feeling like i had a brick in my belly. Thought it was just something I had eaten and kind of was able to ignore it the first day as the sensation came and went. On the second day, the sensation had not gone away and I felt that was odd since I was sure it was some trapped gas, that night I could feel discomfort in my abdomen but when I moved into certain positions, the feeling would go away and I was able to sleep. Day three, I was now starting to get concerned because I felt the "brick" getting bigger. I ate a tiny breakfast and skipped lunch as I didnt want to disturb the "brick". That night, the sensation was more profound and the changing my body position trick was not working at all...I think the only thing that was giving me relief was the cannabis I was smoking but it was just a temporary mental cloud. At around 3am, I felt like I needed to move my bowel but nothing happened, I went back to bed but five minutes later I was back in the bathroom but as soon as I walked in, I felt sick af...i began to feel feverish instantly and began to sweat. I sat on the toilet lid and realized that whatever the fuck was going on was now serious. I sat there in my pajama bottom and t shirt and began feeling like I was in a furnace. My mind was now getting cloudy as I felt my temperature increasing so much that when I touched my hair, it literally felt like it was on fire...never had experienced that in my life. I sat on the bathroom floor and had to take everything off ...i found myself naked on the bathroom floor feeling like i was in flames. My wife was sleeping and I had not told her about what had been going on with me the past three days....i thought it would just go away. I felt like a crazy man on that floor, I weathered that high temperature until it went down and got the chills. I put my clothes back on and finally woke my wife up and once she was awake, I told her, "We need to go to the hospital." She had never heard me ever say something like that to her, she knew something was serious.

Long story, longer....i get to the hospital wait forever and when I see a doctor, he presses on my abdomen, and when he pressed on my pubis, unholy shit!!! I saw all manner of lights, you know when they interview geniuses and they say they hear music and see colors...well when that man pressed down on the spot, I saw pain in colors, symbols, and shapes. Immediately I was put in a Cat-Scan machine and it was determined that I had an appendix on the verge of exploding and possibly taking my life. Had I waited another hour or less, it could have released all the toxins in the wrong places doing very  bad things to me. They told me that they needed to get me into surgery ASAP but it meant I had to drink two huge cups of something called, Barium (not sure about spelling), I like sour and since they had made it almost like an iced margarita and it was going to save my life, I was all in, I drank my "margaritas", met with the coolest most tattooed up anesthesiologist and then right to the O.P., they told me to look at the clock on the wall and count from 10-1 backwards, I got to about 8, and that was that.

I woke up and a nice nurse told me I did good and everything went smooth. She told me I would be staying for the next two, possibly three days, depending on healing progress. I didnt mind the hospital, I really didnt have a choice, so I just slept most of the time. Day two I was asked If i wanted to go home and I said, Yes. They gave me a belt that I wrapped around my body, was told not to lift or run up stairs and they gave me two prescriptions for pain, valium and percocet. I was to stay home for 5-6 days before going back to work. My recovery wasnt bad at all. I remember the first night wanting to see what the pain was going to be like so I waited before I was going to take a valium. It was a bit painful but I chose to medicate the best way I know instead and skipped the prescription stuff. I made sure that wrap was always tight around me and it only took me three days before I decided it was safe to go back to work. Having the appendix removed these days is like pulling a tooth for these surgeons. They have better tech now and the procedure is at its most non-invasive and the scar is tiny. Thankfully I did not have any complications during recovery and was thankful I ended up naked on my bathroom floor or I might not be around today.

Anyways, sorry for he essay, just have fast fingers tonight. I hope your recovery speeds up and you are back at raising hell soon enough!!!
