Crew Challenge 164 - I Want To Ride My Bicycle


A solo bicycle race challenge on

Tour de XDBX: The Hills

  • Best time for a 2 lap race (not fastest lap)
  • Any time of day, any weather, non-contact if you race with others
  • Please do not make your bike start moving before the race begins
  • Choose any of the cycles available - the only difference should be what colour they are

Starts now 
Ends 10th Sept 19:00 BST (18:00 UTC)
All times to be posted by 19:00 BST on 12th Sept please.

I'll run some laps.

What's the secret to riding a bike in this game? Just rapidly smashing the x button doesnt do it because some of you are insanely fast in playlists.

That's weird, @omarcomin71.  I didn't think my 1:51 was a particularly quick time.  It was just my 1st timed run after doing 5 or 6 practice laps to learn the track.  

You need to hold either R1 or X button to lean forward while pedalling.  It's the equivalent of doing a wheelie on a motorbike.  Makes a big difference to your top speed, but also makes it harder to turn, so you'll need to briefly let go of that button for the tight corners.  It's fairly common knowledge but I guess a lot of people forget about it because we don't use the Race Cycles very often.

The other trick is to keep momentum everywhere.  Never stop pedalling and definitely no braking.  Just keep nice straight lines between turns and cut whatever corners you can.

You don't need press X that fast, there is a limit it reaches where it won't go any faster. I think if you do about 3 a second that should be max speed. The other thing is actually leaning forward (with the left stick) in turns makes them sharper, but also easier to lose control.

Sorry. I can’t find my saved video I think it glitched and didn’t save. Only thing I can vaguely  remember is :59 and :58 were my best consecutive laps. But sadly I now have no proof.
