@PretendWereDead  It wouldn´t be a Gfred if we didn´t follow the rules. Yes, it is a proper Gfred.

You might want to warn everyone landing your vehicle in the water makes you respawn, also if someone else pushes your vehicle in the water after you already left it.

May be best to post the rules here as well.

RULES for Gfred

No motor bikes, No flying vehicles of any sort, No Killing (If you run someone over and kill them you have to wait), No stealing vehicles (though you can fight for possession when you are stealing it from the NPCs, by removing the person from inside the car, but that is it)., No shooting wheels out (rather no shooting whatsoever).

Recomendations and Reminders:

Be sure not to drop any of your vehicles in the water or you will respawn on the previous checkpoint (which might be really far away, remember).

You start on cycles, will have to swim, then you pick a car ONLY after you reach the highway. After you pick the car, pick a route to the checkpoints.

The checkpoints are far apart, with the first checkpoint being when you get out of the water near the lighthouse, the 2nd in the bottom of Davis Quartz, the third is on top of the right car park near the airport, 5th on top of mount chilliad, 6th on the entrance for the observatory and the final one is on an island a little north of raton canyon.

Remember that if you respawn, you will be back on the previous checkpoint, in a cycle, so keep that in mind.

Also, those who have done this before, or have seen one of the numerous videos about it on Youtube, know that the fastest routes are quite tricky and requires either some vehicles or some sort of clothing or a parachute, f.e., but, even then, they are far from being safe, so don´t worry too much, a simpler route will mean it will be less prone to be screwed by mistakes and it can give you the win, or it might make you come last :D:P

Gfred......?

Let me know next time you run a Gfred, we might scrap the VANS wednesday event and jump in to boost numbers. These seem to be more fun with more players.

Enjoy tonighr :)

Are we to run to the highway  after the first swim, not respawn to get a bike again?

Yes, run to the highway. you can only do it with a bike if you die at the highway (run over by NPCs or by another player.) If that happens you don´t need to get to the highway to get a car also.

It sounds interesting, maybe if I had more time I would be there, I don't wanna leave in the middle of a game.

Don't worry. Playlists rarely fill up if they are 16 players or more, other than maybe Saturdays, so you're welcome to come for any part of them,.

I thinking of doing a death themed playlist next week. So a mixture of lots of different jobs that involve killing each other, DMs of different types, Captures with a significant fighting element, LTSs, GTA races, various adversary modes. Any requests?

@Beez Sorry for any confusion my post caused mate.

Next time you run a Gfred I will ask my regulat Wednesday lot if you want to jump in too. Will need a bit of advance notice though in case we already have something planned. :)

I really liked the Cannonball Run (Gfred), so if you would like to add this race or another Cannonball Run again, that would be great! There is also een reversed Gfred (Derfg) and loads of other variations.

Another week I will, but that's not really fitting the theme for tonight.

I understand.

I have some nice Zorvaine jobs bookmarked, maybe there is something you might like and fits the theme:

#Rezylo Arena Korvius IV (Deathmatch) https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/ps4/jobs/job/7JY2SkQ1gUGgmQtCUQmWVg A shady custom built train yard fit for shady cocaine deals gone wrong

Viceroy Exoticus (Deathmatch) https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/ps4/jobs/job/xEbrk6XKTUS6qTGHNXosEA A luxury styled resort with lots of foliage and classic cars stationed at the lot.

Conquest: Kun Insu (Capture - King of The Hill) https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/ps4/jobs/job/m9jk18qXV0Ka9KGFfI71-Q Whoever controls that Capture Object (Territory) when the timer runs out, wins. So you have to attack and defend a building. Watch out for the special sniper area.

Cops'n Crooks West Coast (Capture) https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/ps4/jobs/job/JaVR3uZ1oUG0xjUffA2XLA Check the job's description. It works wonders when you're communicating with your team.

It's Whacky Races this week.

I'm including a GFred style race, the rules for which are

  • get off the bike at the start
  • stay on foot / swim until CP2
  • steal a car / van / truck off the streets and carry on racing
  • no flying vehicles, no motorbikes
  • you can get a new car any time you like
  • if you are forced to respawn you can use your bicycle
  • no killing other players
  • stealing another player's car is allowed but be careful to not kill them
  • you can use a parachute if you want, but for this one I don't think it will matter

I may also include a vehicle based capture, where driving / piloting the vehicle is the basis of the game rather than killing the other team with it. Does anyone have any suggestions for that type of capture?

Other than that it's the usual mix of different styles of race, each one in a different class.

Tonight's playlist is bit shorter than normal (I have an early start tomorrow). I am doing 7 jobs, most longer races than normal. I want to see how much the weather can change with all the new options if the race is set to current weather. So all races will be current weather and current time of day and hopefully the game will gives us some thunder, fog, etc. at random times during the playlist.

https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/ps4/playlists/playlist/bJoZcUVwIEq7WY9DHu87Zg

  • The Sandy's Gas GT - custom muscle
  • Le Tour de France - bicycle race
  • Duel - Capture, stealing and delivering a truck
  • one of the new Hot ring races -  customs off
  • Full Rev Coastal - off road P2P
    • large vehicles only, e.g. Trophy Truck, Brawler, Komacho etc
    • bikes, biftas, dune buggys etc will not make it
  • Minifred - GFred race, not as long as the original, usual rules
    • get off bike at start
    • run / swim to CP2
    • steal a car / van / truck
      • no bikes, no flying vehicles
    • no killing people
    • if forced to respawn you can use the bike until you find something better
  • 24 Hours of Grapeseed 2017 - custom supers
    • we'll do as many laps of this as time and bugs allows (7 laps is currently the max)
  • something else

Edit: playlist will be usual sort of length, no longer have an early start tomorrow. So I will put in another normal land race at the end and that can be as many laps as we like (max 7 lap bug only effects stunt races).

DiRT 4 came out on PS4 in June 2017 and it's a rally game different from it's predecessor DiRT Rally. It caters more to players not very familiar with rallying or just looking for a casual rally experience (much like what you could find from DiRT 3), but has plenty of different modes and gameplay improvements to make it fun for anyone.
[DiRT 4 is on sale on the US PS Store for $14.99 until May 22!
DiRT 4 is currently on sale on the UK and EU PS Store for a mere £24 for PS Plus members until 23/11/17 11:59pm]
      Main features of DiRT 4:
There's a choice between Arcade and Simulation handling mechanics and one can easily switch between the two at any time between rally events should they wish to do so. The stage rallies have a feature called "Your Stage" that creates custom rally stages using certain settings and parameters chosen by the player or generated randomly, which means that there's a huge amount of partly similar (stages are made of bits and pieces and the same pieces show up in different parts of different custom stages), but unique rally stages in the game. There's a rich progressive singleplayer career mode, an optional fun trial mode "joyride" (returning from DiRT 3), a fully customisable lobby multiplayer mode "jam session" for all the available rally types, a competitive stage rally MP mode "Pro Tour", daily/weekly/monthly events with leaderboards & big cash rewards, and a solo practice session where you can hone your skills with any car you want. You can also build your own team, pick sponsors, create your team livery and use your personal rally cars in almost every game mode. There's plenty of livery and sponsor options as well as enough space in your garage for over 100 vehicles (after a few upgrades). Loan cars are available for use at all times if you want to try the cars out before you buy a personal one. Earning cash is a much faster process than it is in DiRT Rally, with also more vehicles and team facilities to spend it on. DiRT 4 also has a pretty damn good soundtrack for a rally game.

      Available Rally Types and Locations:
      Stage Rally, Historic Rally:
Fitzroy, Australia Tarragona, Spain Värmland, Sweden Michigan, USA Powys, Wales Footage: all the outrageous things that can happen in one rally stage:

      Rallycross:
Lydden Hill, England Höljes, Sweden Hell, Norway Montalegre, Portugal Lohéac, France
      Landrush (stadium truck/buggy racing):
California, USA Nevada, USA Baja, Mexico Footage: buggy racing:

Landrush vehicles: Speedcar Xtrem (crosscart), Larock 2XR Buggy, Jackson Pro-Truck 2, Jackson Pro-Truck 4

Personally, I love both DiRT 4, which is an immensely fun high-quality rally game, and DiRT Rally, which offers tons of enjoyment through a very authentic rally simulation. I continue to play both and would love to play either with any of you from time to time if you have or decide to get either DiRT game.

[ UPDATED: DiRT Rally is on sale on the UK/EU PS Store for £11.99 (or the € equivalent) until May 24 & on the US PS Store for $11.99 (or $13.99 for the VR Bundle) until May 22! ]

"DiRT Rally is the most authentic, challenging and thrilling rally game ever made, road-tested over 80 million miles by the DiRT community. It captures the essence of what makes rally unique like no other game: that white knuckle feeling of racing on the edge; trying to remain in control of your emotions as you hurtle along dangerous, undulating roads at breakneck speed, aiming to squeeze everything out of your car whilst knowing that one crash could irreparably harm your stage time.
It’s the ultimate test of a driver’s skill, and the ultimate in high risk, high reward gameplay.
The first time you play DiRT Rally may be a little daunting. Not many drivers finish their first race without a crash, and even fewer will win their first event. The game is designed from the ground up to be an authentic simulation of real world rally. The good news for you is, real world driving techniques are applicable to every section of every stage in the game.
A better understanding of rally driving techniques will lead you to become naturally faster as you gain confidence and understanding of the car you are driving and the surfaces that you are driving on. It is much easier to add speed to a good technique."
Couldn't have said it better myself. Long story short: DiRT Rallly is probably the best rally racing simulation game out there. Brilliant mechanics and physics, beautiful graphics, great collection of iconic rally cars of past and present, plenty of different locations and game modes. Even the best racers can often make mistakes in rally and that's the beauty of the sport.

      Available Rally Types:
      Rally
      Hillclimb
      Rallycross

      Game Modes:
      Championships (SP career)
"Start out at the bottom and work your way to the top of the rally world. Hire a crew chief and engineers to build your competitive edge as you race the most iconic cars from rally history across the rally, hillclimb and rallycross disciplines."

      Online Events
"Take on the DiRT Rally community via Daily, Weekly and Monthly RaceNet challenges to earn in-game currency rewards or take to the track in online multiplayer rallycross races."
The online challenges are a great way to try out different vehicles in different locations and in different conditions.

      Leagues
"Get together with friends and run your very own racing league, or join an existing one within the vibrant DiRT Rally community. You can join as many leagues as you like and they are fully customisable all the way down to the weather conditions."
This is the mode we could make the most use of on the crew scale, organise crew rally championships.
      XDBX DiRT Rally League: https://www.dirtgame.com/leagues/league/102999/xdbx-casual

Locations: Monaco, Wales, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Greece, England (RX), Norway (RX), USA (Hillclimb)

Some iconic cars from the game: Mini Cooper S, Renault Alpine A110, Ford Escort MK II, Lancia Stratos, Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500, Audi Sport quattro Rallye, Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2, Subaru Impreza 2001, Ford Focus RS Rally 2001, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, Volkswagen Polo Rally (2010s), Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak, Audi Sport quattro S1 PP

Some official hints and tips for the game: https://www.dirtgame.com/uk/about#hints_tips
The only thing I personally kind of dislike about the game is that you can't drive a specific rally car unless you've purchased it and that process can take a lot of time and trial & error, because earning money is rather slow in the beginning and you don't really know which car suits you best until you've bought them and tried them out. It's a very small issue overall, though.

Verdict: DiRT Rally is a must-have for any true rally fan and rally simulation enthusiast, but if you're a casual gamer and/or mainly an arcade racer just looking to try out rally racing for a change, you should look into getting DiRT 4 instead. There is nothing arcade-y about this DiRT game - it's all about simulating the real thing.

I'm already running an XDBX league in DiRT Rally, so if you have the game, do let me know! Skill level doesn't matter at all, just looking at having a fun time together!

Here's a taste of what the game is like:

      Rallycross (RX):
